SPF · Closed-cell · Seamless

Spray foam roofing built for Arizona flat roofs.

A spray polyurethane foam (SPF) roof installed by W&D Roofing & Contracting is seamless, fully adhered, lightweight, and dramatically more insulating than many traditional flat roof systems. These real W&D project photos show foam roofing systems finished with protective reflective coatings for Arizona heat and monsoon weather.

Why SPF works in the desert

One spray. Zero seams. Twice the R-value of a typical Tucson roof.

R-7 per inch

Closed-cell SPF delivers roughly R-7 of thermal resistance per inch — the highest insulation value of any commercial roofing material.

Fully seamless

No fasteners, no laps, no flashings to fail. The foam flows around every parapet, scupper, and curb.

Lightweight

About 50 lbs per 100 sq ft — easy on aging structures and additions.

Recoatable forever

When the silicone topcoat ages, you simply recoat. The foam underneath can last 30+ years.

Foam roofing system education

These W&D educational graphics explain why a spray polyurethane foam roof system with a reflective coating can be a strong option for Arizona flat and low-slope roofs exposed to extreme summer heat.

How W&D installs SPF

Spray-applied roofing demands experience — and the right weather window.

A bad SPF install is a slow disaster. The foam has to be sprayed at the right surface temperature, the right wind speed, and to the right thickness — usually 1.5" to 2.5" for new construction. We won't spray when conditions are wrong, even if you're paying us to be there. Every W&D foam roof is finished with a granulated silicone topcoat for UV protection and walkability.

  • Substrate prep — power-wash, dry, and prime existing roofs; new-construction decks fastened and sealed.
  • Foam application in controlled passes to a verified mil thickness.
  • Silicone topcoat applied in two passes for UV durability and ponding water resistance.
  • Walkpads at HVAC and roof-access points for foot traffic.

Best fit for

Where SPF earns its keep in Arizona.

Older flat-roof homes

Mid-century midtown Tucson homes with built-up or torch-down roofs that need a thermal upgrade — not a tear-off.

Light commercial

Offices, restaurants, retail strips, and warehouses where a seamless self-flashing membrane wins on penetrations.

Re-roof over existing

Many Tucson SPF projects go directly over the existing roof — saving the tear-off cost and landfill waste.

Roof restoration + reflective coating

Seamless foam insulation with a protective cool roof surface.

Spray foam roofing is applied as a monolithic system, then protected with a reflective roof coating designed to defend the foam from UV exposure, surface wear, and Arizona heat. The result is a lightweight, energy-efficient roofing system that can help restore flat and low-slope roofs without unnecessary tear-offs when the existing roof is a good candidate.

W&D uses real project conditions to guide every recommendation: substrate condition, drainage, penetrations, roof traffic, insulation needs, ponding water risk, and long-term maintenance options.
